The finalists for the 2014 Award for Innovation have been named, with winners revealed in Lorne, on 17th August.
Computelec & Expanding Learning Horizons, Australia’s leading education IT provider, is pleased to announce the Award for Innovation 2014 finalists. This award recognises and honours those schools that are at the forefront of ICT integration and have achieved great success from innovative teaching practices using embedded technological learning activities.
The three finalist schools include:
- Ormiston College, QLD
- St Catherine’s School, NSW
- St Mary’s Primary School, Werner’s Bay, NSW
Industry Veteran and Head of Judging Panel, Bruce Dixon said this initiative was developed to help promote ICT innovation in schoolsand inspire them to continue improving education outcomes by harnessing the power of technology in the classroom. “We were overwhelmed at the amount of time and effort schools put into their Award submissions. We received more than fifty applications. We shortlisted it down to seven and then we had the difficult task of deciding the final top three,” Bruce said.
“We’re seeing a shift in schools across the country towards recognition that innovation is becoming a mainstream responsibility for school leadership teams. Schools acknowledge that the world in which their young people are growing up in demands fresh thinking and new ideas around engagement for achieving improved education outcomes. It was wonderful to see so many schools show interest in this Award and the quality of submissions was outstanding,” Bruce said.
The Award for Innovation winner will be announced at the annual ELH SchoolTech conference on 17th August 2014 following the opening keynote, Will Richardson. The winning school will receive $5,000 cash prize to further support their ICT initiatives and much more.
Participating schools were required to demonstrate innovation across a range of key selection criteria from Leadership and Student achievement outcomes to Infrastructure, Technical Support and Networks.
